PUMA Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, the PUMA ULTRA 5 PRO typically runs true to size for most kids. However, some users with wider feet report that PUMA's fit can be slightly snug, so if your child has a wider foot, consider sizing up half a size. It's recommended to measure your child's foot and compare it to PUMA's official size chart before purchasing.
The PUMA ULTRA 5 PRO features a lightweight mesh upper with GripControl Pro skin that requires minimal break-in compared to traditional leather cleats. Most kids can wear them comfortably for full matches within 2-3 training sessions, though some may need a week of casual wear to fully adapt to the fit and stud configuration.
The PUMA ULTRA 5 PRO is specifically designed for soccer performance rather than all-day casual wear, so comfort is optimized for on-field play with its lightweight construction and responsive outsole. While they can be worn casually for short periods, they're not recommended as everyday shoes since the firm ground studs are designed for soccer surfaces, not pavement or indoor walking.
The SPEEDSYSTEM CARBON outsole on the PUMA ULTRA 5 PRO is engineered for durability with reinforced FastTrax studs that resist wear during intense play on both firm ground and artificial surfaces. The lightweight mesh upper is durable for a season of regular use, though the GripControl Pro skin may show wear faster on abrasive artificial turf compared to natural grass fields.
Yes, the PUMA ULTRA 5 PRO is specifically designed for both Firm Ground (FG) and Artificial Ground (AG) surfaces, making it versatile for different field types. The FastTrax stud configuration on the SPEEDSYSTEM CARBON outsole provides optimal traction on both natural grass pitches and artificial turf without excessive grip that could cause foot strain.
After each use, rinse the PUMA ULTRA 5 PRO with cool water to remove dirt and grass from the mesh upper and studs, then air dry away from direct heat or sunlight. For stubborn stains on the GripControl Pro skin, use a soft brush with mild soap, and periodically check the FastTrax studs for packed mud or debris that could affect traction.
The PUMA ULTRA 5 PRO emphasizes lightweight speed and ball control with its GripControl Pro skin, while Nike Phantom models tend to focus more on touch and precision, and Adidas Predator emphasizes power and spin. The PWRTAPE support frame on the ULTRA 5 PRO provides lateral stability for quick directional changes, which is a key differentiator from competitors in the youth segment.
The PUMA ULTRA 5 PRO is not typically available in wide-specific sizes, as PUMA generally uses a standard width fit across their soccer cleat line. If your child has a wider foot, sizing up half a size may provide additional room, but trying them on or checking PUMA's fit guide is recommended before purchasing.
The SPEEDSYSTEM CARBON outsole on the PUMA ULTRA 5 PRO is designed to resist separation with modern bonding technology, and there are no widespread reports of sole delamination issues. However, like all soccer cleats, proper care—avoiding extreme heat and wet storage—will help maintain the integrity of the stud attachment over time.
The PUMA ULTRA 5 PRO comes in multiple colorways throughout the season, typically including classic black, vibrant neon accents, and limited edition color combinations. Availability varies by retailer and season, so checking PUMA's official website or authorized dealers will show current colorway options for Big Kids' sizes.
