Nike Pegasus 42

Yes — the Pegasus 42 is one of the best everyday trainers in 2026. It refines the Pegasus 41 with a softer ReactX foam midsole and updated upper geometry. If you run 20–40 miles per week and want a reliable daily shoe under $140, the Pegasus 42 is the benchmark choice.

The Nike Pegasus 42 is rated for 400–500 miles of running. At 25 miles per week, that's approximately 4–5 months. The ReactX midsole holds its resilience longer than earlier EVA-foam Pegasus versions. Watch for heel compression as the primary wear indicator.

The Pegasus 42 performs well up to half-marathon distance for most runners. The ReactX cushioning manages impact effectively over long runs. For full marathon distances or injuries requiring maximum cushion, consider stepping up to the Pegasus Premium or Invincible 3.

The Pegasus 42 runs true to size with a roomy toe box suited to most foot shapes. Runners between sizes can stay at their normal size. The fit is slightly more relaxed than previous Pegasus versions, which most runners prefer for longer efforts.
