UA Charged Commit TR 5 Review

Yes — the Charged Commit TR 5 is one of Under Armour's better options for weightlifting. It has a low, flat heel-to-toe drop (~4mm) and a firm Charged Cushioning midsole that provides a stable platform for squats, deadlifts, and bench press. It's not a dedicated lifting shoe (no elevated heel), but for general gym work it outperforms most running shoes used for lifting.

The Charged Commit TR 5 is not designed for running. Its firm, stability-focused midsole lacks the energy return and cushioning needed for running comfort beyond short warm-up distances. For running, consider the UA HOVR Sonic or Charged Pursuit 3. The Commit TR 5 excels at gym training, HIIT, and court sports.

The Charged Commit TR 5 fits true to size for most people, with a moderately wide toe box. Runners with narrow feet may want to try a half size down. The toe box is roomier than typical running shoes, making it comfortable for wide feet during high-rep training. No significant break-in period reported.

The TR 5 updates include a refreshed upper with improved breathability mesh panels, a slightly updated outsole traction pattern for better grip on gym floors and turf, and minor midsole density adjustments for firmer ground-feel during lifting. The TR 4 and TR 5 are very similar — if the TR 4 is on sale at a significant discount, it remains an excellent buy.

The UA Charged Commit TR 5 retails for $75–$90 depending on colorway and retailer. ShoesTrace tracks the price daily across multiple retailers so you can see the 60-day history and confirm whether current deals are genuine discounts.
